About Me
Steve is a Board-Christian Counselor with over 20 years of experience offering Christ-centered, emotionally attuned care to individuals, couples, and families. Steve and his wife Crystal opened Hometown Christian Counseling in 2020 as a response to much needed mental health support in our community. His calling is focused on helping men and married couples navigate the complexities of emotional pain, spiritual questions, and relational challenges with truth, grace, and wisdom.
Steve holds a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a concentration in Christian Counseling. He is a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, using this trusted assessment tool to help couples build strong, healthy, and enduring relationships.
In addition, Steve is a Board-Certified Chaplain through the American Chaplain Association, with specialized experience providing grief and bereavement support through hospice care. His work in this setting has deepened his compassion for those walking through loss, end-of-life transitions, and spiritual crisis. He brings a calming, pastoral presence to those in pain, offering hope and comfort rooted in faith.
Steve is especially passionate about counseling men who are dealing with issues such as identity, emotional disconnection, anger, addiction, fatherhood, and vocational or spiritual burnout. He creates a safe space where men are invited to process deeply, grow spiritually, and become emotionally healthy leaders in their homes and communities.
As a marriage and family specialist, Steve helps couples heal broken trust, strengthen communication, and rekindle emotional and spiritual connection. Whether working with engaged couples or those facing serious relational strain, he guides them with clinically sound, biblically faithful tools for restoration and renewal.
Outside of one-on-one counseling, Steve serves as a speaker, retreat leader, and ministry consultant. He teaches on topics such as biblical masculinity, grief and loss, emotional wellness, servant leadership, spiritual headship, and post-crisis recovery. His mission is to restore hope, strengthen families, and walk with men and couples as they become who God created them to be.
Steve and Crystal have been married for 24 years. They share five children, two of which are adopted and an awesome daughter-in-law. He enjoys traveling, basketball, Georgia football, and food.
